This makes me so happy and unbearably excited for Trek XII. Because I’m so pleased they’re going to deal with the fact that Captaincy won’t automatically make Jim not be the arrogant, go-for-broke daredevil he was up until he joined Starfleet. Jim is 25 at the end of Trek XI, with little experience in Command other than his natural talent. He’s going to make mistakes, and big mistakes, before he becomes a Captain with the intelligence and experience like the one Shatner played.

  • Glad that Benedict Cumberbatch chrome wanted me to spell it “Cumberland” is not Khan. At this point, I was certain that he wasn’t, but it’s still nice to have that confirmation.
  • Not glad that Cumberbatch isn’t Chapel. Or the Horta. I just… really want him to play a female character, I guess….

I am really really really with you on your last three points. It’s one reason why Abrams directing these movies upsets me, because while he made XI a good film and while it is enjoyable to watch, it’s missing a lot of what makes Star Trek different from other sci-fi shows.
